Project Overview
Designed a Power BI experience for Shopify merchants that transforms seven thousand rows of anonymized U.S. transaction data into a decision-ready sales and customer funnel report. The build combines a high-level analysis dashboard with a drill-through details tab so stakeholders can move fluidly between executive KPIs and the underlying order records.
Data Preparation and Modeling
- Connected the Shopify export into Power BI and verified 100 percent column validity inside Power Query before modeling.
- Added calculated columns for

to improve geo plotting accuracy, enable intraday analysis, and unify customer identities across orders.
- Shaped the semantic model with a star-schema mindset and applied row-level security to keep audience views scoped to their territory or role.
Key Metrics Implemented
- Transaction performance measures for net sales, total quantity, and net average order value using reusable DAX patterns.
- Customer behavior metrics such as total customers, single-order customers, and repeat customers with FILTER and CALCULATE logic that distinguishes one-time vs loyal buyers.
- Retention health indicators for lifetime value, repeat rate, and purchase frequency that quantify long-term business value.
Analytics Experience
- Created a dynamic parameter-driven layout that lets users toggle the core measures and automatically updates supporting charts, titles, and KPIs.
- Built a paired map, bar, and slicer suite to expose the best performing provinces, cities, and payment gateways, highlighting Shopify Payments as the dominant channel.
- Layered day and hour trend visuals to uncover peak buying windows (8 AM to 11 PM) and inform campaign scheduling and staffing.
- Enabled drill-through from any aggregated visual to a details page so teams can export the exact orders behind a spike or anomaly.
Outcomes
- Delivered a cohesive Power BI app that unites sales performance, customer behavior, and retention diagnostics in a single workspace.
- Reduced manual analysis time and aligned the dashboard aesthetics with Shopify branding through a dark theme and green accents.
